Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Command have apprehended one of the armed robbery suspects, known as “once chance,” while attempting to rob a lady, Olupitan Tolulope, of her property with Aboniki balm during an operation on the highway with his gang.

According to the police, the incident occurred on March 3, 2025, at around 7:55 am at Allen Avenue, Ikeja Lagos. The 48-year-old suspect, Aniyah James Ajons, allegedly conspired with other suspects now at large to commit the crime.

The suspects attacked Tolulope with a hammer and inserted Aboniki balm on her face while on the highway.

However, their plans were foiled when the vehicle crashed into a culvert, and Ajons was subsequently arrested by the RRS.

During interrogation, Ajons confessed to the crime and was charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for attempted armed robbery.

The court did not take his plea and instead remanded him in custody pending the Director of Public Prosecutions’ (DPP) advice.

The case has been adjourned for mention, awaiting the DPP’s report, which will determine whether the matter will be transferred to the High Court due to jurisdictional issues.
