*Abuja Hotel Incident: Suspect Joseph Efe Denies Ritualistic Intentions, Claims Theft Was Motive”*
Joseph Efe, a 30-year-old man arrested for tying up a woman at Top View Hotel in Abuja, has denied claims that he had ritualistic intentions.
In a recent confession, Efe stated that his sole motive was theft, not harm or ritualistic activities.
He admitted to stealing from the woman and at least four other victims across various cities, including Port Harcourt, Lagos, and Abuja.
Efe claimed he met the woman on a hookup site and invited her to the hotel, where he tied her up to steal her phone.
He asserted that his actions were driven by a desire to raise money for his sister’s sickle cell anemia treatment.
The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, recounted her terrifying ordeal, which began as a regular transaction on a hookup site.
The authorities are investigating the incident, and Efe faces charges of theft and assault.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has urged the public to exercise caution when engaging with individuals online, especially on hookup platforms.
