AVM Umar Omeiza Faruk, Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund, has called on security agencies in the state to work together to create an enabling environment for the state.
AVM Faruk made the statement during a visit to the Kogi state headquarters of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lokoja, where he commended the command for reducing crimes and illegal drugs in the state.
The Chairman acknowledged the state’s strategic location, surrounded by seven states, and promised to provide necessary support to security agencies for effective logistics and operations.
“We will do our best to provide what you need to work effectively and move around easily,” AVM Faruk assured.
Commander Umar Mustapha Yahuza of the NDLEA appreciated AVM Faruk’s visit and thanked him for refurbishing operational vehicles.
He reported recent seizures of 1.45 kg and 8 tons of illegal drugs, with culprits prosecuted and victims receiving treatment at the Kogi State Rehabilitation Center.
However, Commander Yahuza appealed to the state government to equip the rehabilitation center properly, citing the need for adequate facilities and resources to provide effective treatment and rehabilitation services.
Controller General Hadiza Aminu of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Kogi Command, thanked AVM Faruk for his support and readiness to assist.
The Director of Administration of the Trust Fund, Alh Abdulkarim Ahmed, also appreciated the security agencies’ efforts in maintaining security in the state.
This development is part of the Kogi State Government’s efforts to strengthen security in the state.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has been advocating for enhanced collaboration among security agencies and community leaders to combat crime.
The state government has also established initiatives like the Forward Operating Base and Patrol Base to boost security in strategic locations.
