The president elect Bola Tinubu made the list of the 100 most influential people of Time magazine. The list which had the President elect as the only Nigerian who made the list also had other prominent personalities.
Nigeria’s newly elected President Bola Tinubu has had nearly two decades to prepare to win. The president-elect , who just celebrated his 71-year-old birthday, ran for the presidential election for the first time this March and won.
His campaign slogan, “It’s my turn,” was a nod to his role as a longtime political power broker. Tinubu helped restore the country’s democracy in 1999 after fighting military rule and then served two consecutive terms as governor of Lagos.
However, the President elect now is aware of the so many challenges bewildering the country presently as he is determined to renew hope. There are lingering crises which include deep-rooted corruption, religious insurgencies, and shortages of cash, fuel, and power in a crumbling economy. But the President-elect seems aware of his inheritance: According to him, “[Nigeria] is one country and we must build it together,” he said in his acceptance speech.
Bola Tinubu is the only Nigerian that made the list of Time Magazine most influential people of 2023.
The list also contained name of notable people like:
Joe Biden, Volodymyr Zelensky,Kylian Mbappe, Ron Desantis, Xi Jinping,Ursula Von Der Leyen, Olaf Scholz,Kevin McCarthy, King Charles, Lionel Messi, Elon Musk.
