As part of efforts to fortify the security landscape of Kogi State, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund (KSSTF), AVM Omeiza Umar (Rtd), has been engaging with key stakeholders in the security sector.

Recently, he embarked on a familiarization tour to the Nigeria Naval Command Lugard Ship and the Nigeria Immigration Command in Lokoja, aimed at strengthening partnerships and exploring avenues for collaboration.

During his visit to the Nigeria Naval Command Lugard Ship, AVM Umar commended the Nigeria Navy for its efforts in fighting crimes and protecting the nation’s waterways.

He noted that crimes are not only prevalent on land but also on the sea, and therefore, promised to give his undivided assistance to the Navy whenever the need arises.

In his remarks, Commander of the Lugard Ship, Commodore Tamuno Senibo, thanked AVM Umar for the visit and assured him of his command’s full cooperation in the quest to maintain peace and security in the state.

Commodore Senibo noted that despite the security challenges posed by Kogi State’s border with about 8 to 9 states and the influx of criminals into the state, his command would intensify its efforts to fight crimes in the state.

At the Nigeria Immigration Command in Lokoja, AVM Umar was received by the Controller, Nkechi Chinaka Honour, who took him through the various types of passports and visas issued by the command.

Controller Honour appealed to the public to ensure they have enough information about passports before requesting for them.

She also announced that the Nigeria Immigration Service is now ready to issue electronic passports to its citizens.

AVM Umar thanked the Controller and her team for the warm reception and assured them of the trust fund’s support in their efforts to maintain the integrity of the nation’s borders.

He also commended the command for its efforts in combating human trafficking and other cross-border crimes.

The familiarization tour by AVM Umar is a clear indication of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund’s commitment to supporting the security agencies in the state.

The trust fund’s efforts are aimed at ensuring that the state is safe and secure for residents and visitors alike.
