Caregivers Receives Provitamin A maize seedlings Support from HFDI in Akwa Ibom
The caregivers under the catchment of Hope for Family Development Initiatives, HFDI have received Provitamin A seedlings, an agricultural input (maize seedling) in local governments in Akwa Ibom state.
The essence is to economically support vulnerable households with seedlings embedded with vitamin A and other vitamins that helps in the proper development of a child.
At the distribution to the caregivers, they were asked to guide the seedlings, while sustaining it to become sole distributors of such seeds, they were also warned against selling the seedlings or sell the harvest to buy foods like noodles which has no nutritional value.
The Caregivers who are from Etinan local government, Ikot Eba, Ikot Mfon, Ikot Ibok, Ikot Obio Eka, Ikot Umiang Ede and Ikot Inyangeti all in cluster 2 respectively, received the distributed Provitamin A Maize seed at the Health facility located in Ikot Obio Eka Community.
Orientation was also giving to caregivers who participated and they were highlighted concerning the planting and appropriate monitoring of the seedlings from germination to cultivation, advised to make sure that the seeds doesn’t go to waste.
Cluster 2 received bag of provitamin A Maize seed containing 25 mini bags of 2kg each to the community and were able to distribute 17mini bags of 2kg to each beneficiary.
Similarly, provitamin A Maize seed was also taken to the door steps of other caregivers, who couldn’t come to the venue due to rainfall, and the beneficiaries said they were very grateful and appreciated the sponsored, and they are going to make good use of the opportunity, as well as use it to boast their financial status, they promised to adhere according to the methods of planting and also asked for pesticide for pest control and fertilizer for the second farming season, with appreciation.
