Nigerian defense ministry has rekindled partnership with United State government to scale up quality healthy care services for Nigerian military personnel.
In a press release made available to Daily News, the Nigerian Minister of State for Defense, Dr. Muhammad Bello Matawalle met US delegation led by Dr. David Smith, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Health at Abuja, to initiate robust heath services for Nigerian military personnel over the weekend.
The release signed by Director of Information and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike said, the partnership which is meant to enhance bumper health care for military personnel of the two nation’s, has earlier led to the establishment of high- tech laboratories in Nigeria.
Dr. Matawalle who is passionate of an improved health care for the country’s military institution and it’s Civilian personnel, called for increased defense budget allocation believing, it is a visionary investment into the country’s future adding, “A healthy military is the backbone of a strong nation”.
The minister, Matawalle noted that, the initiatives is a manifestation of the nation’s commitment to enhancing military wellbeing, which will complement president Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s passion for improved health care, premised on recognition of healthcare, as cornerstone of national unity.
Dr. Smith who underscored the critical nexus between health system and military effectiveness, said,” Health is as crucial
as any weapon systems in ensuring military success, and we are committed to supporting Nigerian efforts to enhance it’s defense heath system”.
U S delegation to Nigeria the statement affirmed, is to ensure sustainable progress against HIV and unwavering effort in eliminating the scourge as a public health threat by 2030, and as a booster to the United Nations’ 95-95-95 goals.
