Friends, Family Donates Maths-ICT Centre in Honour of Former Kwara Poly Lecturer, Joseph Owoeye

An ultra modern Mathematics and ICT Centre has been donated to Ilafin Community in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi state by friends of the son of Late Chief Joseph Olanrenwaju Owoeye.
The Centre was donated in recognition of the contributions of Chief Owoeye, a former Director, Institute of Management and Vocation at Kwara State Polytechnic, to humanity and as a lover of mathematics.
Speaking at the Commissioning of the Project,the Agbona of Isanlu,Oba Moses Etombi said the Centre is the best way of immortalising Chief Owoeye.
Oba Etombi described the late Community Leader as a selfless and humble leader, who dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity.
According to him,even on the sick bed, Chief Owoeye still contributed to community development, saying his demise has created a vacuum too difficult to fill.
While the President of Ilafin Development Association,Mr. Joseph Awe described the facility as a timely intervention, assured that necessary measures will be put in place to safeguard the centre.
Former Chairman, Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Ilorin District Church, Reverend John Owoeye, said Chief Owoeye until his death lived a fulfilled life, touching numerous people that crossed his part.
A friend of the deceased and former Commissioner for Education in Kwara State during the second republic, Dr David Atteh maintained that the Late Chief Owoeye will be missed for his generosity, humility, honesty and truth.
Speaking on behalf of the friends that donated the facility, Dr. Bawa Kyauta noted that the centre is the best way of immortalising the late educationist, urging the community to guard it against vandals.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the eldest son, Mr. Peter Owoeye thanked all that identified with them, saying his late father lived a selfless life.
Mr. Owoeye said as part of immortalising their father, a mathematics competition will soon be organised to promote the subject.
Late Joseph Owoeye started his career at the Kwara College of Technology, now Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. He was redeployed to Kogi State when new states were created in 1991.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was represented by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Chief Olukayode Ajulo while a frontline Kogi State politician, Dr Toyin Akanle, traditional rulers, top judiciary officers among several others attended the burial ceremony.
