The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on information, Hon. Bello Ihiovi, has congratulated the former Auditor General on Local Government, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on his victory in the primary election held on Saturday, April 14, 2023.
In a congratulatory message, Bello said Ododo’s resounding victory across the wards in the state was an affirmation of his widely-acknowledged sterling performance in his previous office.
Bello said: “Last Saturday, All Progressives Congress members in Kogi rose in their large numbers to exercise their democratic rights.
“They voted massively to give the elected party governorship candidate a clear mandate to contest for the general election.
“Their decision was expressed in very unambiguous and unmistaken terms. I wholeheartedly congratulate and rejoice with Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo,” he said.
The Political appointtee said that the victory was also an expression of confidence the teeming party members in Kogi had in his ability and capacity to propel the state to an even greater height.
He commended the leadership of the party for ensuring the success of the primary election and for effectively mobilising its members to participate fully in the electoral process.
According to him, the party members also deserve praise for not only conducting themselves in an orderly manner but for ensuring that their choices are expressed freely, fairly and unreservedly.
He also applauded the Executive Governor His Excellency Alh Yaya Bello for creating the enabling environment, which enabled the direct primary election to be conducted peacefully.
Alhaji Ododo he stressed is an immensely endowed with an intellectual acumen that has seen him effectively manage people and wealth for many years.
He has been constantly and continually giving back to the people at all levels since the beginning of Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration, endearing him to be one of the key players of this New Direction administration.
No wonder his name he said has been eternally etched in the minds of people to succeed the incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello, especially with his recently built magnificent hospital to take quality medicare to his people, his provision of water for various communities and his provision of health interventions.
The ultramodern hospital which he built at Upogoro in Okene Local Government Area was well equipped to serve the people of the area.
In his usual selfless and humble manner, Alhaji Usman Ododo built the hospital and entrusted it in the hands of the State Government to manage.
Ododo is a highly detribalized person who understands the tribal and religious complexities of the state, the particular emotional traits, intelligence and peculiarity that have so far stand out Ododo’s boss, Governor Yahaya Bello from his predecessors, who allegation of nepotism and lopsidedness of appointments in favour of a particular tribal extraction marred their individual administrations.
He urged Ododo to extend a hand of fellowship to those who vied for the ticket along with him.
