Guaranteed university education for all senatorial districts in Kogi State.

Kogi State has a total of 19 Tertiary institutions in the state making it the most educated state in North central Nigeria and one of the most educated in Nigeria.

it is however on record that Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello the present state governor’s contributions to the development of tertiary institutions education is immeasurable with the fund and  immediate take off 2 universities in less than 4 years .

Since Governor  Yahaya Adoza Bello resumed office as the executive governor of kogi state he has made education at all levels a cardinal priority by remodeling all the higher institutions he inherited from his successors .

Most of the schools which were referred to as glorified secondary schools has now been transformed to better Higher instution of learnings that can now compete with any other higher institutions across the country.

Modern hostels accommodation and facilities were put in place in virtually all the state owned higher education institutions mentioned above.

According to the the Rector of kogi state Polytechnic Associate professor salisu Usman Ogbo who said the Governor have up graded the state own higher institutions from what they called a glorified secondary schools to modern citadel of learning by providing Billions of naira to construct modern laboratories, dormitories and lecture theatres across all state own institutions across the 3 senatorial district of the state.

The vice Chancellor kogi state University professor Mariatu Tenuche said during the NUJ press week in lokoja that Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello was the Messiah sent to rescue Kogi State University out with its many problems.

“Tertiary institutions in Kogi state were in serious crisis before he resumed office, salaries were not paid, allowances and staff morals were at its lowest but he came and set up different committee to look into those crisis and they were all resolved accordingly

Genesis of Kogi state University KSU(prince Abubakar Audu university)

Prince Abubakar Audu University(Formerly Kogi State University) located at
Anyigba is the state-owned university of Kogi, Nigeria.

it was established in
1999 by Prince Abubakar Audu, the then governor of the state.

As at the time of its establishment, it was known as Kogi State University,it was later
named Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) in 2002  after the then
sitting governor of Kogi State, who heralded its establishment.

It was later renamed Kogi State University (KSU) in 2003 by the former governor Ibrahim
Idris and subsequently renamed as Prince Abubakar Audu University in 2020 by Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello in respect of late Abubakar Audu.

Another exhibit to show that Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello built all his achievements on quality governance not on ethnics  agenda .

Although not as popular as its federal counterparts like the University of
Lagos,Obafemi Awolowo University and Ahmadu Bello University,Kogi State University has been named by many multinational corporate bodies as one of Africa’s BEST universities based on the exceptional intellectual pedigree of its employed graduates.

As at January 2017, the university officially dismembered itself from the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU): the umbrella body for academic staff members of Nigerian universities.

As such, academic programmes have become stable and fast, without the incessant strike actions characteristic of ASUU-member universities. Updated = 2019 .

It was Alhaji Yahaya Bello  government that put an end to the incessant strike that used to retard universities education system in Nigeria.

The university was to have campuses in each of the 3 senatorial district this was not made possible due to financial and other logistic reasons beyond the late governor control by and large to reduce the enormous stress with Kogi indigenes seeking admission

These development pave way for the establishment of another science and technology base university  confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara in the kogi Central senatorial district of the state.

CUSTECH Osara, Kogi State

The Confluence University of Science and Technology(CUSTECH),Osara is the second Kogi State State Government owned University in Nigeria.

It was established on 10thNovember 2020.

Its establishment according to the state commissioner for education Hon Wemi Jones is aimed  to give effect to the Nation’s drive for much-needed self-reliance in Science, Engineering and especially Technology.

Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Osara is the brainchild of  Ahaji Yahaya Bello,The Executive Governor of Kogi State.

The dream came to be out of the burning desire to relieve citizens of Kogi State the recurrent ordeal of their admissions into Nigerian Universities thus providing secondary school leavers of the State opportunities to pursue careers in science and technology related specializations.

When Stories of Kogi State indigenes scoring impressively highmarks in UTME, yet finding it difficult to secure admissions into medicine,engineering,pharmacy and
a host of other professional programme have become commonplace and increasingly traumatising.

The search for opportunities to assuage this annual nerve-wracking experiences still relying on the limited admission space in the tertiary institutions of the State and the country in general had become a mere mirage.

The establishment of CUSTECH represents the ultimate in Kogi State government’s resolve to widen the spectrum of opportunities for the younger generation to meet the challenges of the future achieve self-actualization and maximally contributing their quota to national development and beyond.

Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara took off at the  initial with
Faculty of Computing & Informatics which  offer Computer related Courses,Faculty of Engineering Which offer core  Engineering Courses and Faculty of Science which also offer pure and app.ies  Science Courses.

When  agitation for fairness and justice came up and keep growing as a listening governor and the need to give sense of belonging to to every kogi persons and the need to have a state University that’s Kogi West Senatorial District base couple with  people of that district high pedigree for  high academic pursuit reasons why kogi state gets another university sighted in kabba the headquarter of kogi West senatorial district of the state.

this is the university that bring about both political and social ballance to to the state.

Kogi State University Kabba

It all started with the state government announcement of an immediate establishment and take of a new university in the kogi West senatorial district christened kogi state University, Kabba with an initial take off fund of N20Billion fund and powerful committee to supervise the smooth take off.

On June 26, ,2023, the National Universities Commission (NUC) approved the establishment of Kogi State University, Kabba, as the 62nd state universities and the 265th universities in the country.

The Executive Secretary, NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, made this known in Abuja on Monday, when the State Governor, Yahaya Bello paid him a visit.

Rasheed said that the commission had on June 19, received a letter on the

formal presentation of gazetted documents establishing the university.

“I write on behalf of the NUC to inform his excellency that with effect from June
26, 2023, Kogi State University, Kabba has been established as the 62nd state

universities and 265th university in Nigeria.

“NUC pledges its support to the university as we urge you to take full advantage of the institution.
“By this, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) are being notified of the establishment of the university,” he said.

Rasheed also informed newsmen of his voluntary resignation from the NUC to continue lecturing at the Bayero University Kano where he was appointed from.

He said he had spent seven years as the executive secretary of the commission and needed to return to classroom.

Bello while responding, said that the university would be cited in the Kogi West Senatorial District for fairness, equity and justice.

With this its the university will has it  first batch of students November 2023 another excellent achievements of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello.

The chairman of Nigerian Union of Journalists kogi state chapter described the kogi state University, Kabba as one if the best step ever taken by the present administration and employ the people of the distinct to welcome it.

A  kogi state veteran commentator Comrade Ebenezer Adurodija said during a book review at the confluence state capital lokoja in one if his outings that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has emerged as a radical Governor with innovative ideas that have positioned him as a proponent of early thinkers’ leadership theories.

He said the governor has  implemented the EBIGO policy which stands for the major ethnic groups in the state: Ebira, Igala, and Okun which has resulted in the fair distribution of amenities and a balanced approach to appointments, ensuring justice and fairness.

Governor Bello’s approach is guided by the New Direction Agenda, a compass crafted by the government that was upgraded for his second term in office and christened Let’s Do More.

He has made it clear that he will not take any risks with the welfare and future of the people of Kogi State.

Governor Yahaya Bello’s visionary approach focused on five pivotal areas: agriculture, tourism, industry, health, and education. To bolster agricultural production and productivity, he has implemented measures such as facilitating
improved access to credit, modernising farming techniques, and encouraging private sector investments.

Kogi State, under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, has been
prioritizing education to empower its citizens and lay the foundation for sustainable development.

The state has established several prestigious universities, such as Prince Abubakar Audu University in Anyigba, which has attracted thousands of aspiring students.

These institutions have achievedm100% accreditation, demonstrating their commitment to providing quality education and training.

The Confluence University of Science and Technology,Osara, is another notable institution that aims to promote science and technological education.

The government’s commitment to investing in education and fostering innovation has made these institutions highly sought-after by students and employers.

The establishment of a general-purpose university in Kabba, located in the Western Senatorial District of the state.

Establishment and funding of state Universities in each of the 3 senatorial districts is not only giving sense of belonging to  everyone but its also serve as economic pivot for the state.
