The Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Engr Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, has reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transforming the state’s infrastructure.
According to him, “Since taking office, the government has made significant strides in several road construction and rehabilitation, particularly in the local government and state capital, Lokoja.”
Engr Yusuf stated that notable projects include the completion of the Zone 8 Barrack GYB road and the Crusher 5.5 dual way road, originally designed for heavy trucks. “The 9.4km dual carriageway has been completed, with toll gate construction ongoing at Crusher Road,” he added.
The Commissioner emphasized that Governor Ododo’s administration is dedicated to making all roads motorable for residents, enhancing connectivity and facilitating economic growth.
“The government’s focus on infrastructure development is expected to boost trade, commerce, and industry in the state,” he said.
Engr Yusuf highlighted the importance of community participation in road maintenance, stating that “the state government has emphasized community participation in road maintenance, ensuring that local residents are involved in the upkeep of roads in their areas.”
He also noted that the government has dug adequate drainage systems to safeguard roads from erosion during the rainy season, promoting a sense of ownership and responsibility among community members.
To reduce frequent accidents on major roads, the Commissioner said the state government has implemented safety measures, particularly in Crusher and Felele axis.
“The government’s commitment to safety is evident in its efforts to improve road infrastructure and reduce accidents,” he added.
Engr Yusuf described the Ododo administration as “workerholic, energetic, and pragmatic,” dedicated to alleviating poverty and ensuring the state’s safety.
The Commissioner promised to work closely with the media to effectively report on the government’s infrastructural programs, ensuring transparency and accountability.
“This collaboration will enable the government to reach a wider audience and provide regular updates on its progress,” he said.
Under Governor Ododo’s leadership, Engr Yusuf believes Kogi State is witnessing a new era of development, with infrastructure growth driving economic progress and improving residents’ quality of life. “The government’s commitment to infrastructure development is poised to transform the state, making it a hub for growth and prosperity,” he concluded.
