KOGI STATE AT 33, WHAT LIES AHEAD

Kogi State just like the beautiful rose flower 🌹 with thorns, is quite attractive, admired by everyone , become center of attention. This is not so different from our dear Kogi State is. Despite the daunting challenges,Kogi State is still souring higher.
Kogi State our beloved State filled with people having rich, diverse cultures from different ethnic backgrounds, all living in peace and harmony. This attributes make Kogi State still stand tall in areas of development and progress in the community of Nigerian states.
As Kogi State turns 33 years old, the number 33 is considered a master number and it represents creativity, humanitarianism, spiritual and physical evolution.
Kogi State was created by General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, together with eight other States, Abia, Anambra, Delta, Ijgawa, Kebbi, Osun, Taraba and Yobe. The capital of Kogi State is Lokoja, a town rich with several colonial artifacts and heritage that is ready to be explored by investors.
The state has twenty one (21) Local government areas which are Adavi, Ajaokuta, Bassa, Dekina, Ibaji, Igalamela-Odolu, Ijumu, Kabba/Bunu, Koton-Karfe, Lokoja, Mupa-Muro, Ofu, Ogori/Magongo, Okehi, Okene, Olamaboro, Omala, Yagba East, Yagba West.
Kogi State is the most connected State in Nigeria; it boarders Anambra, Enugu, Benue, Nasarawa, Niger, Kwara, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, and F.C.T. (Abuja).
No wonder Kogi State is referred to as the confluence State.
Kogi State is home to the largest iron and steel industry in Nigeria, the Ajaokuta Steel Company Ltd on the 24,000 hectares of land, established in 1979 by the government president Shehu Shagari. This is another tourist site for investors to invest on to further boost the economy of the State.
The State is blessed with huge mineral resources which cut across if not all, most of the local governments in the state. These vast resources provide for willing investors, an opportunity for a great boom in business, that can bring rapid economic and social development to the state.
The past administrations have done well by providing Kogi State basic infrastructural amenities for the improved well-being of the teaming populace .
In this article we shall be looking at “What lies ahead for the people of Kogi State particularly at the grassroots level as Kogi turns 33 years old.
The present administration of Alhaji Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State is all about the total well-being and safety of the masses; to bring about participatory governance, as a visionary Leader who understands the plight of his people,
In his few months in office, he has demonstrated capacity to improve the welfare of workers. He has also taken governance to the grassroots, that is why the 717 Ward Special Assistants were appointed.
The appointment of 717 Ward Special Assistants, is the first of its kind in the history of Kogi State. This initiative by His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ododo is to bring governance very close to the grassroots , so as to bring their concerns and aspirations close to the government. There by bridging the gap between the leadership in government and the grassroots.
His Execllency has a vision for the state. Knowing fully well that these 717 Ward Special Assistants are ready to deliver and bring about positive changes to governance as they serve as intermediaries between the state executives and the people at the grassroots as they communicate together freely to foster development. By this singular act , no one will be left behind in the affairs of governance. This will also reduce crimes in the State.
Governor Ododo has done well for the State since His inauguration and more is yet to come. So let us come together and build a better, productive and progressive Kogi State.
