The Kogi State Government has called on newly appointed sports officials to work together and help revive sports activities across the state.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Monday Anyebe, gave the charge during the inauguration of Sports Association board members at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.
Mr. Anyebe urged the new officials to collaborate with the government and key stakeholders to boost sports development. He stressed the need to focus on grassroots sports and encouraged the officials to be good ambassadors of Kogi State.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Kogi State Handball Association, Jibril Seidu, said his team will work with all stakeholders to promote unity and growth in handball.
He thanked the state government for the opportunity to serve and promised to build on past achievements and take Kogi sports to the global stage.
The Chairman of the Shooting Association, retired Ambassador Oladeji Adeoye, also pledged to involve all members, especially those at the grassroots, in their activities.
A total of nineteen chairmen and vice chairmen were inaugurated at the ceremony alongside other board members.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of sports kits by the chairmen of the Handball and Shooting Associations, among others.
