Kogi State Security Trust Fund, is the most important unseen faces behind the success of security of Kogi State .—— Ohiare.
The Executive Chairman, Kogi State Security Trust Fund, Hon Abdulraheem Ozovehe Ohiare, has said, the Trust Fund is the most important unseen faces behind the success of security of Kogi State.
Ohiare, made this known when he led the team from the Trust Fund on a familiarization visit to understudy the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, in Lagos.
The Executive Chairman said, Kogi State Security Trust Fund was established by KSSTF Law of 2012, when the Government saw the challenges at that time that, Kogi State was the hotbed of the security.
The government realized that, property and progress of any state without ensuring the security of lives and property is outrightly impossible.
He said, knowing well that, security is on the exclusive list of the government, the mandates of the Trust Fund were not to secure or act as security agencies.
The mandate is to source for funds to assist federal, state, Local Government and other security agencies operating in the state and any reasonable governments should embrace that, because one of the core responsibilities has been taken.
Ohiare said, since the establishment of the Fund, the Trust Fund has been assisting, supporting and providing the security agencies operating in the state with some critical needs, stressing that, these interventions were instrumental to the peaceful atmosphere being enjoyed in Kogi State today.
He thanked the Board of Lagos State Security Trust Fund, for hosting Kogi State team despite their tight schedules and pledged to replicate the experience gained from LSSTF in Kogi State.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr Abdurazak Balogun, submits that, the more the States Security Trust Fund shares experience among themselves the more they contribute to security of the country.
He said, an effective and efficient State Security Trust Fund, should be transparent, accountable, independent and should be devoid of normal bureaucracy of government, stressing that, despite the similarities between the KSSTF and LSSTF , there are still areas of disparities.
Balogun further said, “a clear look at the provisions of law that established the KSSTF is imperative that, the agency cannot operate smoothly and if it does then it is a peculiarity of the state ”
He urged the state to revisit the composition of the Board and their tenure.
Balogun said, the LSSTF was established by the Lagos State Assembly Law in 2007, adding that, the Trust Fund is the most successful Security Trust Fund in Nigeria, because of little or no government interference and operates as quasi private sector.
He thanked the KSSTF team for the visit and pledged to replicate the gesture by visiting Kogi State.
The Executive Chairman was accompanied by Directors from the Agency.
