KSSTF Chairman to Kogians” let’s join hands to Fight Crimes in the State
Following his recent courtesy visit to all the security agencies in the state after assuming office as the chairman of Kogi State Security Trust Fund, hon Abdulraheem Ozovehe Ohiare visit the office of the Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, Commandant Paul. O.Igwe Buike in Lokoja .
Speaking during the visit, hon.Ohiare said the primary objective of the Trust Fund is to provide succour logistically for all the security agencies in the state.
According to him, the Trust Fund also faces financial challenges as the 0.2 of the local government allocation and the one percent of every contract in the state is not enough .
He further said companies and private individuals are not contributing to the security of the state. This is because it is not compulsory for them but optional.
Hon. Ohiare said if there is no effective security there would be no progress .
He promised to assist security agencies whenever assistance is needed.
He also said the rate of crimes has reduced to the barest minimum since the inception of governor Yahaya Bello as the executive governor of Kogi State.
Promising to follow the steps and foundation of the governor, he pledged to make kogi a crime free state.
He appealed to the commandant to always provides arms to members of Nigeria Security Defence civil corps especially those serving in Okehi local government and all local government area of the state so as to protect themselves and the residents .
Responding on behalf of the Commandant who was unavoidably absent, S.A.Alabi (DCC) thanked the chairman for his visit despite short notice.
He said the NSCDC has three distinct mandates namely protection of critical assets and infrastructure which covers all the federal government assets.
The NSCDC supervises vigilante and activities of all security guards both in our homes and offices, they trained security guards too and without the approval of Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps no security guards can operate in Nigeria.
The third one according to him, is crises and disaster management and about ten thousand men of NSCDC trained and standby to tackle any disaster.
He said above all the command is dedicated to protection of lives and property in the state.
He reaffirmed the commands readiness to collaborate with the funds to fight crimes in the State.
In a similar development , Chairman Kogi State Security Trust Fund also visited the commander 12 Brigade at Chari Maigumeri barracks Lokoja.
He appealed to the command not to hesitate to call on the trust whenever the need arises.
Responding, Commander 12 Brigade Lokoja Brigadier general H.I .Dasuki commended Kogi State Security Trust Fund for the visit and the quick response whenever they requested for an assistance.
Brigadier Dansuki said his office is ready to work together with the Trust Fund to rid kogi of criminals.
