Leave us out of your politics-PAAU Students caution Politicians

The President, Student Union Government, (SUG), Prince Abubakar Audu University, (PAAU) Anyigba Comrade David Monday has called on politicians to leave the Students out of politics insisting that the institution is not a glorified secondary school.
Comrade David stated this on Thursday during a press briefing held at the University campus in Anyigba Kogi state.
According to him, the University as a Centre of academic excellence cannot be in contention as it has achieved significantly in training of competent manpower working across the globe with high pedigree in research and community service.
The SUG President maintained that the institution which has existed for decades would not have achieved such glamorous status by an empty , sudden and spontaneous flight to stardom.
He said that, to make a sweeping and limbless statement labeling such a university as a glorified secondary school, is to say the least, is unintelligible, maliciously contrived and a vein pursuit of tainted motives.

“Such unguarded statement is flowing from the deficit of knowledge, by dragging the hard earned reputation of our great university to disrepute in the eye of the public.
” As it could cast thousands of our graduates working across the globe and others who are pursuing their postgraduate programs in Nigeria and abroad”.
He further stressed that the university have accreditations status for all it’s programs by National University Commission (NUC), and other professional bodies.
Comrade Monday posited that, the University with over one hundred and fifty scholars on professional cadre, many of whom serve as resources persons for NUC accreditation for others Universities in Nigeria cannot be glorified secondary school.
“We as students wish to state that all the achievements are not unconnected with the total support of His Excellency, Alh. (Dr) Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Visitor to the University”.
“We urged the general public not to be misguided and equally ask the perpetrator of this uninformed stands to retract their statement made to the print or broadcast media or any other platform” he stated.
Adding her voice, the SUG Vice President of PAAU Comrade Sulieman Hanifali Success explained that the University which has a state of the art library, laboratories and lecture theatres cannot be glorified secondary school.
She also pointed out that, the University has a good infrastructure development inside the school and it is open to more social development.
On his part, the union Public Relations Officer, Comr. Yusuf Emmanuel noted that, the University with beautiful serene environment for leaning and enviable road network on campus with 24hours internet facility cannot be termed a glorified secondary school .
In the same vein, the SUG General Secretary. Comrade Jibrin Seidu explained that, the University student are beneficiaries of highly competitive scholarship from the federal government, NGOs and individuals, adding that, they have provided many law graduates consistently, produce first class in Bar final examinations for three consecutive times within the last six years.
The SUG Assistant General Secretary. Agbo Emmanuel Shaibu who also frowned at the statement made by a political figure that the University is a glorified Secondary School Stated that the public may wish to know that PAAU is amongst the twenty six universities in Nigeria that have 100percent full accreditation status for all her programs by NUC rating.
