NEWS: Tragedy Strikes on Lagos-Kogi Route: Police Shoot and Kill Bus Driver at Checkpoint
In a devastating incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a Lagos-Kogi bus driver, Danjuma Sule, from Abocho, Dekina Local Government Area, was fatally shot by police officers at a checkpoint between Iduwa and Okene.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when Sule, a regular driver on the Anyigba-Lagos route, was returning from Lagos to Anyigba.
As he approached the checkpoint, police officers stopped him and alleged that he had a habit of not stopping at the checkpoint whenever he drove through.
According to eyewitnesses, the police officers threatened Sule, stating that he would have to spend the rest of the night with them until daybreak or face dire consequences.
Sule, feeling harassed and intimidated, argued with the officers, which unfortunately escalated into a tragic confrontation.
The police officers allegedly opened fire on Sule, fatally wounding him. The driver’s untimely death has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation, with many calling for justice and an immediate investigation into the incident.
