The Management of Specialist Hospital, Lokoja has said the reported rift between one of it’s staff and the wife of the Commissioner Finance, Hajia Rukayat Asiwaju , was blown out of proportion by some social media platforms.
In a statement signed the Chief Medical Director, Prof Isah, Yahaya Adagiri, the management of the hospital said the exaggerated reports were not the true reflection of events hence it’s resolve to put the records straight.
The wife of the Commissioner Finance, Hajia Rukayat Asiwaju and a staff of the hospital Mr.Tijani were reported to have had a disagreement during attempts to get medical care for a patient, one Mr. Saliu Musa.
According to accounts by the hospital, “on Saturday, 23rd September, 2023, one Mr. Saliu Musa who happened to be a barber to the Commissioner collapsed at the Commissioner’s Quarters and was brought to Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja by Hajia Rukayat Asiwaju.
It was during the process of documentation and registration of the said patient, that the unfortunate misunderstanding occured between the wife of the commissioner and front desk staff.
Hajia Rukayat Asiwaju understandably became apprehensive over the pace of the documentation and registration of the patient hence her resolve to confront the staff on duty who attributed the hitch to poor internet service.
While admitting that there was a minor altercation, the hospital maintained that it was resolved instantly while the patient was treated and discharged almost immediately.
Even as it lauded Hajia Asiwaju for her cooperation.
The statement called on the general public to disregard all the wild allegations made by some online medium following the incident; stressing that the matter has been resolved amicably by all the parties concerned.
The management equally used the medium to call on social media platforms and media in general to always double-check their facts from independent sources before publication.
“We wish to clear the air and remind residents of Kogi and environs that Specialist Hospital Lokoja remains a center of integrity committed towards providing effective health care services” the statement further assured stakeholders.
