This charge was made during the weekend in a one day media workshop organized for journalists in the state. The aim of the workshop was to shed light on the prevalence of gender-based violence, promote social inclusion, and advocate for human right
Led by the Chief Executive officer of Stallion Times Media Services, Mallam Isiyaku Ahmed, the training kicked off with a resounding call to action to change the current narrative. Mr. Ahmed outlined the objectives of the training, emphasizing the importance of beaming light on issues that promote gender equality, social inclusion, and human rights through impactful news coverage.
According to Isiyaku “The Workshop is also aimed at instituting a dialogue mechanism on the collaborative Media Engagement for development inclusion and accountability (CMedia) Project”.
He underscored the vital role journalists play as crusaders of human rights, urging them to amplify their voices and champion the cause of equality.
Dr. Theophilus Abbah, a media specialist, captivated the audience with his lectures on “Gender Equity in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges, and Prospects” and “Gender-Based Violence Reporting,” encouraging participants to focus their efforts on social inclusion and gender equity reporting.
He drew attention to the worrying gender gaps that are deeply ingrained in society and urged journalists to become change agents by using interviews, features, and different approaches as means of advancing gender equity in governance and human rights.
The Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi state, Isah Ismail, extended his commendation to the organization for their dedication to empowering Kogi journalists.
He expressed positivity that the training will help participants become professional in handling reports on social inclusion and human rights in the state.
The Governor will lead an all-inclusive government, Mr. Ismail promised, reiterating the government’s commitment to promoting a more inclusive and equitable society.
